Mobile Free Mondays: reclaim your attention one day a week
Mobile Free Mondays;
is it for you?
Presenting a simple remedy for the modern condition.
Do you suffer from that familiar, restless urge to look at your mobile phone every few minutes? You are not alone. The constant distraction of our devices has captured the modern household.
We’re inviting you to take one day a week to practice a phone free day. Rediscover the simple joys of a quiet morning, an uninterrupted conversation, and the world right in front of you.
You might at first experience anxiousness or boredom. But you’ll soon adjust and experience the benefits of lower stress and improved focus.
And you’ll also have more time! What will you do with those hours saved not doomscrolling? Explore all the many other ways to spend your time!
Imagine watching a film all the way through without googling who the actors are. Why not listen to music (on an analogue player)? You could read a book or revisit that hobby? If you live in a household with other people, you could talk to them, or play card games.
We hope that, as more people embrace Mobile Free Mondays, switching off will start to feel easier and more natural. If your family, friends and colleagues are spending less time on their phones too, you may feel less pressure to respond immediately and less tempted to check for messages.
If 10% of all people in the UK stopped using their phones for one day a week, it would save an estimated 69,000 tonnes of CO2e emissions every year.
Think of that! That’s equal to taking 15,000 petrol cars off the road for an entire year.
So spread the word!
